We have successfully isolated a natural strain of algae Dunaliella salina from the Tuticorin, Tamil Nadu  and Nanochlorophsis Oculata from Rajakamangalam, Tamil Nadu.

The microscopic alga, Dunaliella salina is the source of Natural Betacarotene. The algal cell functions just like an ordinary plant cell. It is photo synthetic, converting carbon dioxide from the atmosphere into cell material to provide energy. The sunlight energy is absorbed by the chlorophyll in the cell; this colour is normally not visible as it is masked by the intense orange colour of the beta-carotene.
